The David Gregory Charity Singers were first formed in October 2003,
by contemporary classical singer David Gregory whose concept was to
provide free top-quality live entertainment to the public, whilst
raising funds for many a charitable cause.
Since its formation, retailers in particular have found our services
to be extremely beneficial in not only lifting the atmosphere of
stores to create a far more pleasurable shopping environment for
customers, but also on their sales figures as well! As a result, The
David Gregory Charity Singers now enjoys an excellent working
relationship with numerous Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser,
Debenhams and Harvey Nichols stores throughout the UK.
Over the years, The David Gregory Charity Singers have raised
countless thousands for numerous charities including Macmillan
Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Leukaemia & Lymphoma
Research, The Prostate Cancer Charity, Testicular Cancer, The
D.E.C.’s ‘Tsunami’ appeal, Hope
and Homes for Children and the
BBC’s ‘Children in Need’ appeal among many others!
Furthermore, all our singers are
highly trained, experienced professionals with a proven track-record
in the entertainment industry that includes principal/leading roles
in Opera, West End and Touring Musicals; Concerts at a number of
prestigious venues (including The Royal Albert Hall, The Royal
Festival Hall, Wembley Arena and the Birmingham N.E.C.); Headliner
Cabaret appearances for international Cruise Lines and a number of
appearances on Television and Radio.
In 2008, we received a terrific boost when one of our charity singers, Charlie
Francis, caught the attention of House of Fraser’s Chief Executive
Officer John King whilst performing at a VIP event at their flagship
store on Oxford Street. As a result, a deal was soon struck between
David Gregory and House of Fraser’s Brand Director Matt Chambers
that saw Charlie go onto perform a nationwide tour of stores as 'The
Voice of House of Fraser', whilst supporting the company’s chosen
charity - The Royal Marsden Hospital’s ‘Children’s and Teenage
Cancer Unit’ appeal.
In 2009, The David Gregory Charity Singers were delighted to assist
a number of Marks & Spencer stores with their fundraising
activities on
behalf of many local, regional and national charities throughout the
UK as part of the company’s ‘125 Charity Challenge’ birthday
initiative. During the course of this, David Gregory was delighted
to be given the opportunity by Leeds Store Manager Andrew Lloyd to
showcase his company’s activities to Chairman Sir Stuart Rose and
several of his Board of Directors and Retail Leadership Team
members.
This year (2010), The David Gregory Charity Singers have since been
drafted in again by numerous Marks & Spencer Store Managers, this
time to assist with their fundraising activities throughout March
and April on behalf of 'The Prostate Cancer Charity’ and ‘Leukaemia
& Lymphoma Research’. Incidentally, David Gregory was delighted to
be invited by Manchester, Reading and Milton Keynes stores to
serenade the crowds prior to cricketing legend Sir Ian Botham's
'Forget Me Not' fundraising walk (which kicked off from each store
location) on behalf of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research'.
Finally, The David Gregory Charity Singers’ highly innovative
approach to fundraising has always gone down an absolute storm with
the public, resulting in many Store Managers often receiving
countless commendations from delighted customers over the difference
our presence and vocal repertoire has made to their day! This in
turn has resulted in a substantial increase in not only the
quantity, but the quality of donations received from the public over
what is typically raised via more conventional means!
Couple these major benefits with the positive impact The David
Gregory Charity Singers has on store atmosphere and sales, and you
have a win/win situation for all!
P.S.
What do we get out of it? A chance to perform and showcase our
talents to the public and potentially receive bookings from them. Plus, a small percentage of what we raise to cover our
operating costs and expenses. Finally, The David Gregory Charity Singers operates a number of very
strict procedures to ensure that every penny we raise is accounted
for, so your peace of mind over what goes where and to whom is guaranteed!
