David Gregory Performing Biography

David Gregory has performed a number of principal roles in Opera, Operetta, both West End and Touring Musicals, and Pantomime including Don Curzio in 'Figaro's Wedding' (Jeremy Sams's English National Opera translation of Mozart's 'The Marriage of Figaro'), Nanki Poo in 'The Mikado', Freddie Eynsford Hill in 'My Fair Lady', Amshel Rothschild in 'The Rothschilds' (European Premiere of the Hit Broadway Show), The Prince in 'Sleeping Beauty', Eugene in 'Grease' and was a Featured Singer in two UK Touring Musical Revue Shows 'The Music of the Night' and 'West End to Broadway'. David has also appeared at the Royal Festival Hall and on BBC TV’s 'Songs of Praise', Sky TV's 'Star Search' and BBC Radio, before recording his debut CD 'Classically Yours', which was released in 2001.

In 2002, David was a semi-finalist on the award-winning Channel 4 series 'Operatunity' (in collaboration with the English National Opera, EMI Classics and Diverse Ltd), and his participation in the competition can be seen on the subsequent DVD release of the series. Then as a result of being spotted by a major executive in the music industry, David was engaged by the Decca Record Company to record some sample tracks for consideration by the late, great Tenor, Luciano Pavarotti prior to the recording of his farewell album 'Ti Adoro'.

In 2004, David recorded a comedy Jingle to the tune of 'O Sole Mio' for the Jonathan Coleman and Harriet Scott Breakfast Show on London’s Heart 106.2 FM Radio Station. He was then subsequently fast-tracked by the BBC onto their popular quiz 'The Weakest Link' to deliver an Opera-Gram to the show’s notorious Quiz-Mistress 'The Queen of Mean' Anne Robinson! In July 2005, David was delighted to appear at a major Music Festival in Milton Keynes alongside such names as Jools Holland and His Rhythm and Blues Orchestra. More recently, David duetted on an exciting new recording project - a CD single called 'Brighter Day' with acclaimed international R&B Singer/Songwriter Kiskadee, who was a former member of the late, great Michael Jackson's Production Team lead by Producer John Barnes.

In October 2003, David was approached by Marks & Spencer Store Manager Andy Gee, who asked him to perform on the sales-floor for the launch of the store chain's new reward credit card '&more'. David's subsequent performance proved such a hit with customers that he soon found himself in considerable demand performing in stores throughout the country! Furthermore, David's stunning voice coupled with his incredibly diverse repertoire (Opera, Musicals and Pop including Big Band, Chart and 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s Standards), won him such acclaim from the public that a second CD 'David Gregory: The Collection' was released in September 2005 to meet with the demand! Incidentally, in tandem with his sales-floor serenading, David has also championed many a good cause and over the years, has raised countless thousands for such charities as Marie Curie Cancer Care, Macmillan Cancer Support, Leukaemia Research and the BBC’s ‘Children in Need’ appeal.

Finally, in March 2008 and on the advice of several Marks & Spencer Store Managers, David formed his own company 'The David Gregory Charity Singers' and in tandem with a fundraising initiative on behalf of Marie Curie Cancer Care, now has artists performing in numerous department stores and shopping centres around the country. Incidentally, after catching the eye (and ear) of House of Fraser’s C.E.O. John King during a VIP Event at the Department Store Chain’s flagship store on Oxford Street last October, one of David’s artists, Charlie Francis, was subsequently created as ‘The Voice of House of Fraser’ in an exclusive deal struck between David Gregory and House of Fraser’s Brand Director, Matt Chambers.
